Helene and Paul have been in touch to tell us about their new clothing-optional mini-resort and boat trips on the Caribbean island of Curacao. ‘The Natural‘ caters mostly for naturists and – so that there’s no misunderstanding – the owners make it clear there is a complete absence of ‘erotic parties’. In fact, peace and quiet is the order of the day. Accommodation is in attractive apartments, bungalows and a house. Curacao became an autonomous country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands in October 2010, following a change of constitutional status which dissolved the Netherlands Antilles.

The Clothing Optional Resort in Nosara, Costa Rica, offers attractive studios and two-bedroom condos, each with kitchen and private patio / balcony, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The all au naturel retreat opens for its second season next month, on 10th February, 2012. Situated on top of a hill above Playa Pelada, with impressive vistas and cooling breezes – privacy, peace and quiet are the order of the day.

This eco-friendly one-bedroomed property at Lubbers Quarters Cay, off the island of Abaco in the Bahamas, would suit anyone seeking a Robinson Crusoe lifestyle. Moonrise Cottage has its own private clothes-optional beach. The owner says the accommodation is a naturists’ delight!

According to their website, ‘N’ is a new resort for those who appreciate an all natural experience in the Caribbean. Opened in November 2010, the 96-room all inclusive property has a 1,000-foot white sand beachfront. The destination was previously known as FDR Pebbles and is located close the former Lido Braco clothes-optional resort, about 35 minutes’ drive from Montego Bay.

Bare Necessities Tour and Travel, based in Austin Texas,  have been successfully organising luxury naturist cruises for more than 20 years. Last week the company announced its latest venture – a record-breaking voyage for 3,000 nudists, taking place in February 2013, on board the ‘Carnival Freedom’. Sailing from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, the eight-day itinerary will take in Cozumel, Mexico, Lima in Costa Rica and Colon in Panama, with side tours to the famous canal available. Set on the north coast of the Caribbean island of the Dominican Republic, Cambium is a new naturist lifestyle and holiday destination currently under construction. Occupying 176 acres of lush tropical scenery backed by the Cordilera Septentrional mountain range: there are ocean views from many parts of the site. The nearby beach at Playa Magante is about 3 km away and has a quiet “nude-friendly” area at one end of the bay. Work began in autumn 2010, and with good transport connections from the UK, Europe and the USA it is expected to become a popular clothes-optional community. Opportunities currently exist for investors wishing to build their own property at Cambium.

Enthusiastic naturist André Araújo of Brazilian travel company, Velocitas, has been in touch to advise that his firm can make travel arrangements for visitors to Rio de Janeiro which include time at the renowned Abricó nudist beach. Mak Nuk Village, Tulum, Mexico is scheduled to open in Spring/Summer 2010 as an upscale naturist aparthotel with condos for sale and rent. The development is well under way and is located not far from stunning beaches, some of which are clothes-optional.

Set in five hectares, Chacara Colina dos Ventos, is a rapidly expanding naturist resort in tropical north-east Brazil. Situated 15 minutes from the world famous *Tambaba nude beach, the extensive property offers a choice of all-inclusive, half board and B&B accommodation. Resort website in Portuguese. Valerie has been in touch to advise that Decameron Club Caribbean, at Runaway Bay on the north coast of Jamaica, no longer has a clothes-optional area on the beach. The resort is now completely textile. 

Jerry has been in touch to tell us about a beautiful clothes-optional beach on the north coast of Cuba at Cayo Santa Maria. Our good friends Normand and Lily from Canada have an excellent website, dedicated to the location with clear directions to the naturist zone.

Guatemala Naturally offers nudist or clothing-optional vacations and tours in the rainforest of the Rio Dulce. Holidays combine opportunities for sailing, au naturel swimming under hot waterfalls or in cool cavern-fed water, birdwatching and jungle tours. A choice of accommodation is available. Guatemala Naturally is a pioneer project, being the first naturist retreat in the country.

Shotover Gardens is a one bedroom cottage set in 3 acres of lawns and gardens, located in the hills outside Port Antonio, Jamaica. It is a 15-minute drive from downtown Port Antonio. The owners advise the naturist-friendly property is very private, giving guests the ability to completely relax au naturel. There is a view of the ocean and the Blue Mountains from the cottage.

Naturists Sheila and Ken Holmes operate a bed and breakfast by the Pacific Ocean in the Mexican State of Nayarit. The accommodation is clothing-optional during the months of April, May and June and other times by special reservation. Contact Sheila and Ken via the Aticama website for more details.

Mi Amor Clothing Optional Resort, between Costa Rica’s capital city, San Jose and the Caribbean coast, opens its doors next month – May 2008. All-inclusive accommodation is available in 30 en-suite air-conditioned rooms around the pool, or set in the extensive tropical gardens. One of the largest naturist resorts in Brazil, Recanto Paraíso offers en-suite chalets and camping facilities. In addition to the fine mountain views, there is a large outdoor pool, sauna and jacuzzi. Club website

Just 15 minutes’ drive from the towns of Punta del Este (where there is an international airport), Piriápolis and Maldonado, Chihuahua nude beach is a popular haven for locals and visitors alike. In the year 2000 the Maldonado municipal administration officially declared the beach ‘naturist’, and it now attracts as many as 3,000 naked souls a day in high season. Simple nude-friendly rooms are available at the adjacent El Refugio guesthouse.

The owner of the exotic new 5-bedroom villa Le Reve at Baie Rouge – on the Caribbean island of St Martin - suggests it is suitable for nude sunbathing. It also has its own private beach. We assume a lottery win would come in handy to afford to stay!
